The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has implored Muslim faithful to continue to pray for the country’s peace, unity, and growth as the world celebrate Eid-El-Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad( Peace Be Upon Him).
Pastor Ojelabi in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Mrs Bola Akingbehin, on Wednesday, 27 September, 2023, urged Muslim faithful to emulate the exemplary leadership and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by promoting peaceful co-existence among the citizens.
He advised Muslims in particular and Nigerians in general to embrace patience, perseverance, religious harmony and tolerance in relating with the members of other faith-based organisations for peace, justice, stability and love to exist.
The APC Chairman equally charged Lagosians to develop positive attitudinal change that would continue to uplift the state through their comments and remarks.
Pastor Ojelabi also enjoined Muslims and other religious groups to continue with their prayers for the state and Nigeria to be better.
He urged them to remember that they have no other nation besides Nigeria to call theirs.
The former member of the House of Representatives stated further that there would not be accelerated progress when government keeps tackling crises since such would cause its distraction in implementing its programmes for the citizenry.
Ojelabi also charged parents and guardians to be mindful of the friends their children and wards keep so as not to tarnish their family names through unholy acts, while reminding them of the adage that says:.’ Evil communication corrupts good manners.’
He called on Muslims to use the commemoration of the Holy Prophet’s birth to reaffirm the importance of unity in diversity in Nigeria.
“I pray that all of you will live up to the spiritual principles taught by the Hloly Prophet, which include piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, honesty, and a commitment to duties as you celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad,” he said.
