Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated former Presidential Liaison Adviser, Dr Esther Uduehi, as she clocks 77 years.
Uduehi, an illustrious Deltan from Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state is an educationist, administrator, astute politician and retired Permanent Secretary.
Dr Uduehi is Founder/President of League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV) and was appointed first female Council Chairman in Nigeria when she headed Orhionmwon Local Government Council from 1978 to 1980.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, the Governor lauded Uduehi for her impressive resumè and outstanding contributions to nation building.
He said that Uduehi had made remarkable contributions to the development of Nigeria, especially as a one time Local Government Council Chairman, retired permanent secretary in the defunct Bendel State Civil Service, Presidential Liaison Adviser House of Representatives served as Special Adviser to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as the Liaison with the House of Representatives and Chairman Governing Board of National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education from 2013 to 2015.
Oborevwori hailed Uduehi, a Rhodes scholar, as a role model and advocate for women who attended international conferences with the goal of improving the lot of women worldwide.
“Dame Uduehi as a super Permanent Secretary, served in various Ministries and Departments including Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Manpower Development and Establishments, Education, Commerce and Industry and Civil Service Commission.
“As first female Chief Executive of a Broadcast Media in Nigeria, as Sole Administrator of the then Bendel Broadcasting Service in 1986, Dame Uduehi brought her wealth of experience to bear on the station.
“As a member of the Board of Trustees of PDP, you serve as Chairman of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee of the BoT and a member of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, you have persisted in providing our state and nation with invaluable service.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta, I congratulate you, Dr Esther Uduehi on the occasion of your 77th birth anniversary.
“Together with your family, friends, political allies, and well-wishers, I thank Almighty God for your life, which has been filled with abundant fulfilment and strong, sterling successes.
“As you commemorate this anniversary, it is my prayer that Almighty God will continue to reward you with good health, many more years of happiness, and the ability to contribute to the development of our state and country,” Oborevwori stated.
