The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi, has felicitated Nigerian and Lagos State workers on the occasion of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
The APC Chairman, who expressed satisfaction with the way the workers have conducted themselves in the last year, particularly the noble role they played in the just concluded general elections, prayed for them to live long to reap the benefits of their labour in good health and prosperity.
He used the opportunity of the global celebration to congratulate the workers for their immense contributions to socio-economic and political progress of the country and Lagos State in particular and assured them that the government would not relent in giving priority attention to their needs and aspirations.
He recognized the workers as the “engine room” of development whose contributions could not be ignored for the country to progress and urged them not to relent in the efforts to make the country regain its glory as the true giant of Africa.
The Lagos APC Chairman praised the workers of Lagos State who, he said, have been cooperating with the government to ensure that Lagosians continue to enjoy and savour good governance that the Sanwo-Olu administration has been dishing out to them since the last four years and implored them to do more so that the government could do more to the people.
“I thank you all for this spirit of reciprocity that you have always extended to the Lagos State Government over the years. This has continued to make our state the Centre of Excellence and PRIMUS INTER PARES (first among equal). We are leading in the provision of the basic necessities of life for our people, the others are just following our footsteps”, he said
He thanked the workers for trooping out en-mass during the last general elections that brought resounding victories to all the candidates that contested on the platform of the APC and assured them that they would not regret doing so because the party was poised for more action in the coming administration.
Pastor Ojelabi assured that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, will deliver on the party’s manifestos which, he said, was deliberately designed to take the people out of poverty line and give them a new lease of life.
The THEMES agenda, he said, was tailor-made for the benefit of Lagosians.
On the forthcoming inauguration of the nation’s President-elect, Ojelabi enjoined the workers to continue to pray for the nation so that the new administration could be successfully inaugurated to breathe fresh air into the country for progress and prosperity to be established once and for all.
“I am happy that both the President-elect and his Vice are experienced administrators who will hit the ground running as soon as they are handed the baton.
“They have done similar things at their states in the past and will latch on those experiences to serve Nigerians diligently and effectively.
“Once again, I say happy workers day and wishing you all many of it in good health in the years ahead,” he said.
