Billionaire businessman and Chairman of Geregu, Femi Otedola, hit the diamond age, 60 today, Friday, 4 November, 2022. He is also fulfilling one of his childhood dreams.
In celebrating the milestone, Otedola hired the iconic super yacht, Christiana O.
According to his daughter and popular DJ, Cuppy on her Instagram, it was a dream come true for her dad.
Cuppy wrote: “My father Femi Otedola, always dreamt as a little boy to visit the iconic 99m super-yacht Christina O because it was owned by his (and my) role model, Aristotle Onassis.
“To celebrate his 60th, not only did he visit the yacht, but he has also chartered it for his loved ones so we can live here for the next 3 weeks! Looking at my father I can see how happy, accomplished, and still in disbelief he is. This is what love looks like.
“Chase your dreams, you never know,” Cuppy stated.
The business mogul in making the milestone a memorable one, spent about €3 million to rent a luxury yacht belonging to one of his childhood idols, Aristotle Onassis, ahead of his 60th birthday.
The energy magnate is celebrating his 60th birthday aboard the private luxury motor yacht Christina O.
Christina O is the 59th largest yacht in the world as of 2022. The weekly rental cost of the yacht, which belongs to billionaire Greek shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis who amassed the world’s largest privately owned shipping fleet, is $609,000.
Otedola rented the yacht for three weeks. Going by the average rates on Charter Index, a luxury yacht rental site, the billionaire must have splurged $1.82700m over N801m, for his three-week voyage.
He is celebrating his 60th birthday with his family members and friends. The famous billionaire was seen entering the yacht with his wife, children, and son-in-law-to-be, Mr Eazi, on Wednesday, 2 November, 2022.
The yacht will sail for three weeks around the Mediterranean Sea with 37 crew members on board.
A private jet ferried his children and Nana, his wife, from London to Venice, Italy. From there, they visited the typical cruising regions of the yacht like Antigua, Bahamas, Cuba, Mykonos, Ibiza, Saint Martin, St Barts, Virgin Islands, and Costa Rica among others.
The Epe-born Chairman of Geregu Power Plant Plc is the first Nigerian to hire the yacht. The yacht has a master suite, 18-passenger staterooms, and numerous indoor and outdoor living areas, all connected by a spiral staircase. The number of living areas is large, and the amount of outdoor deck space is generous while the aft main deck has an outdoor pool with a minotaur-themed mosaic floor that rises at the push of a button to become a dance floor.
The exterior of Christina O easily stands out among other super yachts thanks to her distinctive clipper bow, long sheer line, rounded superstructure, and dazzling white topsides, not forgetting her trademark, vibrant yellow funnel. A variety of vast open-air spaces offer a multitude of options for lounging and socializing. The top level of the yacht, known as the compass deck, is well-primed for sunning, with a line of chaise loungers and a bar, while the spacious promenade deck below features an aft spa pool, and alfresco dining and bar setup.
After living in Europe’s luxury cities, Otedola recently joined the increasing exodus of billionaires who relocated to Dubai where he splurged on a sprawling multi-million dollar mansion.
The pristine, white multi-storeyed building sits atop a wide expanse of land and comes complete with a swimming pool and many other luxury accoutrements. Its elaborate decor and interior effortlessly ooze panache and prosperity. Otedola reportedly bought the property last April and has been operating from there because of the ease of connecting Africa or Europe for business.
