Luqman Olatunji Orelope was born on 12 August,1972 into the noble and famous family of Alhaji Jimoh Akanbi Laka Orelope (a.k.a Baba Orelope).
Luqman’s father, Pa Jimoh Laka Orelope, was a farmer, business man, foremost politician and a great philanthropist before his demise.
The name Orelope then was and now is still synonymous with Lagos and Alimosho politics and continues to reverberate across the length and breadth of Lagos State and beyond.
History has it that Baba Orelope’s house usually hosted critical state Leaders meeting under the leadership of Alhaji Jakande.
It is on record that Luqman was the young boy then who was always in the company of Baba Orelope whenever he went for political activities. A fact Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu recalled while Luqman was being presented to him.
Luqman is an unassuming politician who has been part and parcel of Alimosho political evolution in different ways and at different times without making so much noise about it.
Small wonder the young Orelope political foray (over the years) can be situated in his determination to push further the good path Baba Orelope left behind.
Luqman is an indigene of Idimu/Egbeda (Awori) Lagos State and had served his state meritoriously at local government level not only as Chairman Executive Committee on PSP, Chairman, Executive Committee on Transportation but also as the Secretary (SLG), Alimosho Local Government.
Luqman, the Scion of Orelope’s political dynasty is a business man and a public administrator who cares so much about individuals without prejudice to their background. No wonder he’s at home with the Hausa and Igbo communities not to talk of the old and young.
Luqman, a graduate of University of Lagos with BSc in Public Administration had his elementary education at Ore-Ofe Primary School, Dopemu Agege, and his secondary education at Oniwaya High School, Agege.
The young Orelope, (a passionate footballer and sport enthusiast who has just turned 50) is offering himself to serve the people of Alimosho State Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2023 general election.
One cannot but wish him the best while he too can’t hide his excitement at counting on the support of well meaning party members and unalloyed support of the general public in the coming days on his journey to become the Hon. Member in the Lagos State Legislature
