A female undergraduate student of the University of Lagos (names withheld) has narrated to the police how a lecturer in the University named Dr Kadiri raped her, reports thegazellenews.com
According to the student, she had gone to the office of Dr Kadiri to sort out issues concerning her results. “I don’t know he had ulterior motive as he ended up raping me in his office,” she said.
She stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 16 August, 2023, inside the office of the suspect in UNILAG.
According to Inclusive Social Welfare and Empowerment Foundation, a non-governmental organisation where the victim reported the matter, “rather than attending to issues brought by the poor girl concerning her results, he ended up raping her”.
InclusiveSWEF thus reported the matter to the Gender Unit of the state Police Command and through the OC Gender, the state Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa issued a warrant of arrest for the lecturer through the state High Court.
The Vice Chancellor was duly informed and the school authorities informed the suspect and he subsequently submitted himself for arrest.
He was arrested on Tuesday, 29 August, 2023 and subsequently detained while the police continue their investigation.
