Bauchi State High Court presided over by Justice Mu’azu Abubakar on Tuesday, 16 April, 2024, sentenced a 39-year-old man, Sa’idu Mohammed to 14 years imprisonment for sodomizing a 12-year-old boy.
Justice Abubakar, however, gave the convict an option of a N100,000 fine.
The convict had earlier pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr S.M. Toro, informed the court that the convict on June 16, 2022, lured the victim to a river in Yelwa community and sodomized him.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the anti-Kidnapping, theft of cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.
