The operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), on routine patrol on Thursday, 29 July, 2021 at Computer Village along the very busy Obafemi Awolowo way Ikeja, arrested two members of a notorious syndicate that specializes in phone theft.
The two suspects: Abiodun Idowu, male, aged 40, an indigene of Sagamu-Remo in Ogun State, resident of 3, Segilola street, Agege, Lagos; and Adeleke Adekunle, male, aged 27, an indigene of Ila in Osun state, who resides at No 7, Araromi Street, Kola, Alagbado, Lagos, were arrested after disposessing one Olakunle John, a newly deployed NYSC Corps member who was waiting at the bus stop to board a shuttle bus back to his place of primary assignment at Ikorodu of his phone.
On interrogation both suspects confessed to have been in the fraudulent business of stolen phone deals and further turned in credible intelligence towards the arrest of their fleeing accomplices; a galaxy A20 model phone and two (2) sim cards belonging to the victim were recovered.
The Commander, RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi had transferred both suspects to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, for discreet investigation in compliance with the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
