A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has remanded three persons who kidnapped and killed an 82-year-old man, Michael Obasuyi and sold his corpse to ritualist for N1.8 million at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.
In his verdict, the Magistrate, Bankole Okuwasanmi, ordered that the suspects: Sunday Obasuyi, 42, son of the deceased; Akinniyi, 51; and Bobafe Sunday, 51; be remanded pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was, some weeks, later discovered in a shallow grave.
The prosecutor further alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8m to the third defendant, Sunday, who was an herbalist.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
