The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has fulfilled the N2million cash awards promise he made for 2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 Best Graduating Students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, during the combined convocation of the three sessions.
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said the gesture was to encourage outstanding learners to further improve themselves, recalling that the present administration in the state had made it a tradition to always reward Overall Best Graduating Students in both public and private tertiary institutions across the state with N2M Cash Award and automatic employment.
Prof. Arigbabu, according the Press Officer MOES&T, Mr. Ayoola Obadimu, explained that the generosity took a new dimension during the TASUED convocation ceremony in November, 2023, where Prince Dapo Abiodun extended the benefits to the Best Graduating Students of each of the Colleges in the institution with N500,000 cash gift.
In their separate remarks, the Best Graduating Student 2021, Sunday Gbodogbe; the Best Graduating Student 2022, Patricia Ogadinma and the Best Graduating Student 2023, Mercy Sanyaolu, appreciated the governor for the donation, submitting that the initiative was a confirmation of the state government’s agenda for students well-being.
Also representing the First Class students, a work-study student, Nelson Okewale, from Department of Mathematics and Abosede Adelekan from the Department of English Studies expressed satisfaction at the proper coordination of the presentation of the awards, commending the governor for promoting and supporting hardworking students.
