Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu has identified the Governor of Oyo State, Engr, Seyi Makinde, as the reason for regular advancement and progress being recorded of late by the Institution.
Speaking at the 13th induction ceremony of the 98 Medical Laboratory Scientists of the University by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria at the weekend, he attributed the once incessant strike actions to paucity of fund to pay workers and procure needed equipment for training of students.
While explaining that, “the success and many others recently recorded in the University are giant strides that could not have been achieved without the support of the owner State Governor who continues to give the necessary funds needed for training of medical students and others”, he hinted that the desire of Management is to expand its College of Health Sciences by increasing the number of academic and professional programmes to include B. Sc Public Health, B. Sc Pharmacology, B. Sc Health Information Management, B. Sc Physiotherapy, B. Sc Environmental Health and B. Sc Molecular Genetics.
Earlier in his own address at the occasion, Registrar of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Dr Tosan Erhabor who was represented by the Council’s Director of Education and Training, Dr. Aikopitanyi Induitia commended Management of the Institution for all the support given to the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.
He singled out the University for being able to produce well trained, highly skilled and competent Medical Laboratory Scientists that have been of immense benefit to the Nation’s health sector.
The Registrar hinted that Council was planning to increase quota of Technicians in some Institutions including LAUTECH.
