The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE 1, has expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the establishment of a Federal College of Education in Ilawe Ekiti.
The Alawe expressed his appreciation in his palace, on Saturday, I July, 2023 while making a formal announcement of the establishment of the institution to the people of the town.
“The institution marks another federal presence in Ekiti State and a positive development in Ilawe”, he said.
According to the monarch, the college will serve in the training and production of thorough-bred teachers for Ekiti and Nigerians as a whole, just as he also revealed that the establishment came as a result of several requests made to the Federal Government for a higher institution in Ilawe Ekiti by the Alawe which started sometime in 2016 and was supported by patriotic Ilawe indigenes.
The monarch emphasized that all hands have been on deck to provide a conducive environment for academic activities in the newly established Federal College of Education.
The Alawe also revealed that a ten-man committee to oversee a seamless take-off of the institution is being set up,.
In the meantime, the Federal Government has named a Provost for the new College of Education, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, whose tenure, according to a document from the Federal Ministry of Education, has begun.
