The immediate past Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun FAGBOHUN, SAN, NPOM, has returned to the university and resumed as a lecturer in the institution following the conclusion of his sabbatical and accumulated deferred leave from the institution.
Prof. Fagbohun, who left the university in January 2021 at the end of his five-year tenure as Vice Chancellor, returned to the classroom at the Faculty of Law of the university on Monday, 18 December, 2023.
On his return on Monday, 18 December, 2023, Prof. Fagbohun’s first visit was to the Office of the Vice Chancellor, where he was given a warm reception befitting of a former Vice Chancellor by no other than the Chairman Governing Council of the Institution, Sir. David Sunmoni, FCA, KJW, and the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM.
The trio were soon joined by other members of the university management: Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Academic, Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan; DVC, Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo; Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu; and Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka as well as the Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. Kareem Olatoye; in a brief meeting.
It was indeed a convivial atmosphere marked by mutual respect and admiration as the 8th and 9th helmsmen of the university exchanged warm handshakes and hugs with verbal anticipation of working together for the good of the university.
“I am committed to the success of the current administration. If the VC succeeds, then I, as her predecessor, would have been deemed to have succeeded. And if she fails, then I would have failed, “the former VC said during the meeting.
“I am happy to be back at LASU. Thank you for receiving me. I can’t wait to return to class,” Prof. Fagbohun added to the delight of the leaders of the university before he was led away by the Dean to the Faculty of Law, where he would continue his primary assignment of impacting knowledge on students.
Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, a Professor of Environmental Law, was Vice Chancellor of LASU between January 2016 and January 2021.
