The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, has lauded the management, staff and students of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) on the high spate of cheerful developmental and academic progressions being recorded in recent times.
Fagbemi gave the applaud at a courtesy visit he paid to the management; stating that the college is an institution of high esteem that cannot be shoved aside anywhere in the world.
The two terms former Chairman, Governing Council of the first citadel of learning in Nigeria and now Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation said he was delighted to see the facelift in the College and glad with the serenity and rapid development in the institution.
Fagbemi said that visiting YabaTech is an home coming and expressed his appreciation to the College community and principal officers for cooperating with the Rector who has accomplished a great feat within a short time in office.
The AGF disclosed that it always gladdens his heart to hear good and interesting news about the institution, he hinted that he is very proud to talk about YabaTech anywhere because of the good legacy and products of the institution that are making huge impacts locally and internationally.
The former Governing Council Chairman noted that he was able to come back to the College as a result of the achievements recorded during his tenure as the Governing Council Chairman, and to applaud and encourage the current Management not to rest on their oars, because sky is just the stepping stone.
During his tenure YABATECH was ranked the best Polytechnic in Nigeria according to Webometric ranking in 2021 and the position which the College has sustained till date.
He appealed to the College community to pray for him to perform very well in his current position, the position he got immediately his second term tenure elapsed as the YABATECH Governing Council Chairman.
In his response to the august visitor, YabaTech Rector, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul affirmed that the current Management has been able to consolidate on his achievements to raise the banner of the College very high. Dr. Abdul relayed the arrays of success recorded by the Management team his tenure midwife and her paddling the canoe of the institution excellently well in unity.
The unity, the Rector added, resulted into uninterrupted academic calendar; taking the College to grater height, peaceful co-existence with college stakeholders and amazing community relations which have portrayed the institution in good light.
The 7th indigenous Rector opined that raising the welfare package of the staff of the college which is an integral part of the ERECT Agenda is being vigorously pursued and it has started yielding result.
According to him, ”The endowment fund of N50 billion that was inaugurated during your tenure, we are seriously tapping into it, and we have been able to achieve $1 million grant from UNICEF; N3.5 billion Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre and 150 acres of land for Green Campus donated by Chief Tunde Fanimokun, if we continue in this progressive trend, the N50 billion target will be achieved in no distant future. We thank you for setting up the space in which we are building upon”.
