The 9th Brigade Army Cantonment in Ikeja was thrown into frenzy on Sunday, 10 March, 2024, as the blocks of classrooms facilitated by the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke was commissioned, reports thegazellenews.com
Military high officials led by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General MT Usman were on hand to witness the historic occasion.
Speaking at the event, Honourable Faleke stated that the construction of the school was meant to improve the standard of teaching and learning in the primary school particularly for children of army officers residing in the barracks and those coming from outside.
“It’s part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Provision of conducive environment for teaching and learning is one of the bedrocks of this administration and we all have to support the administration to succeed.
“The Bola Tinubu administration is committed to improving the standard of living of Nigerians but we must support the administration as government alone cannot achieve this noble aim,” Faleke, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance said.
In his reaction, the GOC, 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General MT Usman commended Honourable Faleke for the project noting that empowering the people and infrastructure development of his Constituency have become second nature to the former Chairman of Conference 57, umbrella organization of council Chairmen in Lagos.
Major General Usman called on the headteacher and teachers of the school to ensure judicious use of the facilities.
“You’ve to take care of the facilities and ensure adequate maintenance,” he said.
The structure was two suspended floor school with 15 classrooms and toilets on each floor;
and three offices with one conference room. The school also come with furniture and computers.
It also has 10,000 liters of water supply with solar pumping machine.
