The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has appointed Lagos State University (LASU) Professor, Basirat Olusola Oladipupo as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology LASUSTECH), reports thegazellenews.com.
Professor Oladipupo’s appointment was made public via a letter signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
The letter was dated Wednesday, 5 July, 2023.
Her letter of appointment indicated that the erudite academic and experienced scholar would serve as the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of the newly established university based in Ikorodu. She would serve for five years: from 25 May, 2023 to 25 May, 2028.
Her letter of appointment reads in part, “I am pleased to convey the approval of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, of your appointment as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Lagos State University of Science & Technology (LASUSTECH) for a single term of 5 years with effect from 25th May 2023 to 25th May 2028″.
”In appointing you, the State Government expects you to demonstrate a high level of dedication, diligence, and selflessness in the discharge of your duties to justify the confidence and trust reposed in you by Mr. Governor”.
Professor Basirat Olushola Oladipupo, is a highly esteemed academic figure and former President of the Epe Division Professional Women Association (EPWA). She is also the first and only female Professor from the Epe Division.
Professor Basirat Olushola Oladipupo, renowned for her expertise in Health Education, is currently a Professor in the Department of Physical and Health Education at Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. Before this appointment, she served as the Chairman of the Students Disciplinary Committee at LASU and played a key role as the Coordinator of the University’s SEED Care Project.
An erudite scholar, an orator specially gifted with public speaking skills, Professor Oladipupo was the Keynote Speaker during the Anniversary Lecture of thegazellenews.com which took place on Thursday, 17 March, 2022 at D’Podium Events Centre in Ikeja.
At the event, the erudite scholar practically demonstrated how advocacy can be used as a tool to eradicate anti-social vices, particularly Bullying, Cultism and Drug Abuse in schools. Then, she spoke on the theme: Advocacy as a Tool for Eradicating Bullying, Cultism, Drug Abuse and other anti-Social Vices in Schools.
She was also the Keynote Speaker at the first anniversary lecture of Alimoso TV while she also served as the Moderator during the second Anniversary Lecture of the same media organisation.
