The All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for Ojo Federal Constituency in continuation of its grassroot engagements and interactions with stakeholders in the Constituency held two events on Saturday, 14 January, 2023.
The events were held at Ilogbo-Elegba town hall and Ojo Local Government Council Chamber and the central message by the leaders of the party to attendees at the event was the need to collect their PVCs and also to cast their votes for all APC candidates in the general elections.
The first event which was held at Ilogbo-Elegba town hall, leaders and members of the Campaign Council alongside with some candidates of the party, met with party leaders, ward executive members and other party faithfuls of Ward F comprising of residents of: Ilogbo-Elegba, Adaloko, Era, Ketu, Imude, Shibiri-Ekunpa, Ajewamiwa and Oto Awori towns.
Prince Musbau Ashafa, Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area, who gave the welcome address, expressed appreciation to the party members for huge turn out.
He also appealed for support for all the candidates of the party in the coming general elections.
The Director General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Rosulu Olusola Idowu appreciated members for turning out massively at the recent Lagos West 2 campaign rally held Thursday, 12 January, 2023.
He spoke about the collection of PVCs which is the only tool to speak with our votes. He advised members present to move to all the nooks and crannies of the zones and mobilize people to collect their PVCs which deadline has been extended to Sunday, 29 January, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party candidates who spoke at the event starting with Hon. ‘Lanre Ogunyemi, APC Rep Candidate for Ojo Federal Constituency represented by Apostle Adigun appealed to members to put sentiments aside and support credibility. He advised them to vote for all the candidates of the party at all levels of the elections.
Hon. Tijani Surajudeen, APC Candidate for Ojo State Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, who hails from Ilogbo-Elegba community further advised party supporters to shun the opposition who have nothing to offer.
He promised to continue more on empowerment and developmental programmes in his constituency.
Hon. Olusegun Ege, APC Candidate for Ojo State constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly candidate, reiterated the need to continually support and vote all candidates of the party.
Princess Sarah Sosan, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State charged Ward F to prove that it is one of the largest wards in the Federal Constituency by delivering high number of votes for the party’s candidates in the coming elections.
She spoke further that this is the time to make Ojo Federal Constituency great again and bring back the good old days of Ojo majority.
At the second event with religious leaders held at the Chairman’s Council Chamber of Ojo Local Government, the Director General of the Campaign Council appreciated the religious leaders for honouring the party’s invitation.
He said the party can only win the election by carrying everyone along including the religious leaders who oversee large congregations in the various churches and mosques. He advised to continue interfacing with the government through the Nigeria Inter Religious Council which is present in every local government and LCDAs.
Furthermore, he charged them to mobilize and speak to their congregation to get their PVCs and work for the victory of APC.
The Apex Leader for the Federal Constituency, Alhaji R.O Olorunfunmi appealed to the religious leaders to build on its relationship with the party and its candidates, while Hon Segun Ege promised to assist the religious leaders and members in the collection of their PVCs.
Apostle Adigun who represented Hon. ‘Lanre Ogunyemi, spoke about the gains from the party and appealed for support in all ramifications.
The religion leaders: Rev Gbadebo and Imam Ahmed Folami spoke on behalf of both faiths and promised to work assiduously and support the party. They later prayed for peaceful conduct of the general elections.
Barrister Lawal, Secretary to the Campaign Council once again appreciated the religious leaders for making time out of their tight schedule to honour the party. He promised more fruitful engagements with them on behalf of the party.
Party stalwarts present at the day’s events are: Princess Sarah Adebisi Sosan, former Deputy Governor Lagos State and Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) member; Alhaji R.O Olorunfunmi, APC Apex Leader, Ojo Federal Constituency; Party Chairman of Ojo LGA, women and youth leaders, market men and women; the Council Chairmen of Ojo LG, Iba and Otto-Awori LCDAs; Vice Chairman of Otto Awori LCDA, serving supervisors and councilors, LGA and ward executive members, Baale of Ilogbo-Elegba, ethnic nationalities, religious leaders and a host of others.
The party candidates: Dr. (Mrs) Idiat Oluranti Adebule, APC Candidate for Lagos West Senatorial District; and Hon. Michael ‘Lanre Ogunyemi, APC House of Representatives Candidate for Ojo Federal Constituency were absent due to party assignments but were represented.
Both Hon. Surajdeen Olatunji Tijani (Emir), APC Candidate for Ojo State Constituency II Lagos State House of Assembly and also a current member of the State Assembly; and Hon.Adebisi Olusegun Ege, APC Candidate for Ojo State Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly were present.
