Kafilat Adetola Ogbara has always stand tall among her peers. Since her days in the University of Lagos, she had always been a goal-getter and had always set higher standard of excellence for herself to achieve. Among her peers, she has always develop that leadership qualities that have endeared her to many.
Today, Ogbara is the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives Candidate for Kosofe Federal Constituency and for those who have been monitoring political events in Kosofe Federal Constituency, majority believed that she is not only the candidate to beat in the election but many also see her as the most resourceful, brilliant and someone who really possess the qualities to take the Federal Constituency higher at the Green Chamber.
“My aim is to promote and sponsor bills that will positively affect the lives of the Youths, Aged, Children, the Physically-challenged and Women in particular,” she told thegazellenews.com.
According to her, she intends to support and influence positive legislation for the development of her constituency in particular, and Lagos State and Nigeria in general.
“Thus I intend to engage in productive oversight functions and other activities that will bring succour, success and economic development to our people,” she said.
Kafilat Adetola Ogbara has one vision going into politics: to see a Nigeria that we can all be proud of. To be a part of this great entity where everyone rich or poor would be able to develop their potentials to the maximum, to recreate a healthy and wealthy peaceful nation.
If and when, by the special grace of God, she is elected as the representative of Kosofe Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber, she is setting the record of being the first woman ever to represent the Constituency at the Lower Legislative Chamber.
Kafilat has a pedigree, she is from the industrious and popular Kasumu family of Lagos Island and married into another industrious family: the Ogbara family of Ikorodu.
Adetola is brilliant, in fact like we say in Yoruba, Kafila mo iwe, she really sabi book. She is a graduate of English Language and Literature from the prestigious University of Lagos. She holds two Master’s degrees from the same university: a Master in International Law and Diplomacy and another Master degree in Public Administration.
Over the years, she has garnered a lot of valuable experiences in administration and political activities.
Prior to her winning the APC ticket for the coming Reps election, she was a Commissioner in the Lagos Audit Service Commission and before that she had been a board member of: National Centre for Women Development, Abuja; National Horticultural Research Institute; and the Nigeria Television Authority.
She is a journalist, TV presenter, newspaper administrator and Publisher. She is the former Managing Director of the National Mirror newspapers and is the Publisher of Today’s Prime News newspaper.
A writer and poet, Kafilat is also a human and women’s rights activist and apart from being a member of several non-governmental organisations, she is the founder of Women in Nigeria (WIN), a non-governmental organisation set up to emancipate and empower women in Nigeria.
Kafilat was also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rep Candidate for Kosofe Federal Constituency in the 2003 and 2007 general elections.
She possesses the three Bs ingredients for success: she is beautiful, brilliant and bold.
