The Office of the Special Investigator created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to probe the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) during the era of Godwin Emefiele as Governor issued letter on Monday, 12 February, 2024.
In the letter dated same day addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, National Central Bureau (NCB), International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Shehu Shagari Way, Abuja, the Special Investigator stated that the trio of: Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar and Odoh Eric Ocheme have been declared wanted for allegation of forgery and theft of $6.230 million.
The trio were accused of forging the signature of the President of Nigeria to collect the sum of $6.230 million allegedly meant for payment of foreign election observers.
According to the letter signed by DCP Eloho Okpoziakpo, Head of Operations in the Office of the Special Investigator, the request for Interpol for tracking and subsequent arrest of the trio was sequel to warrant of arrest for the trio issued by Justice I E Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja in suit FHC/ABJ/CR/19/2024, Federal Government VS Adamu Abubakar & Two Others.
