Operatives of the Adamawa Police Command have apprehended four secondary school boys for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
The four, all between 16 and 17 years old, were picked up by operatives of the state command of the Nigeria Police on charges of criminal conspiracy and rape of a minor.
The suspects allegedly conspired and raped the victim by first intoxicating her with large quantity of beer.
“The Adamawa State Police command has on Sunday, 24th November, 2024 apprehended and brought into custody four persons,” the police said in a statement signed on Monday by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesman.
“During the course of investigation, the suspects confessed committing the crime, having unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim one after another,” he said.
Nguroje gave the names of the four suspects as Sukari Mathew, 16 years old, Collins Cambull, also 16 years old, Barnabas Simon, 17 years, and Ferdinand Mathew, 17 years.
Nguroje said the suspects are all students of Government Secondary School Sugu, in the Ganye Local Government Area of southern Adamawa.
“Already, the Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered that the suspected minors be taken into protective custody pending the outcome of investigation and legal advice from the office of the Director of public prosecution (DPP),” the statement added.
