The Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule has solicited continued support for President Bola Tinubu as the country go through what she termed a ‘rebirth for economic posterity and social justice under the Renewed Hope Agenda’.
She stated further that Nigeria has no business with economic failure going by the abundant human and material resources the nation is blessed with.
Senator Adebule spoke at the distribution of food palliatives and clothes to 10,000 residents of Lagos West Senatorial District held at the Police College, Ikeja.
The Federal Lawmaker said that the hig cost of living being experienced is a global phenomenon, not peculiar to Nigeria alone thus it is a matter of responsibility to support Lagos West at this trying times.
She expressed appreciation to her constituents for the vote of confidence repose in her during the 2023 General Elections which culminated in her becoming a member of the Red Chamber.
The former Deputy Governor of Lagos State stated that she had earlier supported her constituents with programmes aimed at enhancing their welfare. Such programmes included fertiliser support for farmers and training of 200 people in Fishery at the School of Oceanography for Marine Economy in Nigeria.
In his goodwill message, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Apex Leader for Badagry Division, Prince Rabiu Oluwa said that the people of Lagos West made no mistake in given their mandate to Senator Adebule.
According to him, her impact had been felt in various sectors like Education, Social Welfare, Empowerment, Vocational Training and Health care during the short time spent in the National Assembly.
On his part, the APC Chairman in Lagos State, Hon Cornelius Ojelabi thanked Nigerians for their perseverance with the President over the current state of the economy.
He said that he is optimistic that President Tinubu and his team will soon overcome the economic challenges in the country.
Ojelabi was of the view that the Adebule programme was in fulfillment of promise made by the Senator for the people of Lagos West Senatorial District.
“She has real passion for her people and this is demonstrated here today,” Ojelabi said.
The Lagos APC Chairman also appealed to members of the party in the West Senatorial District to bury their differences to enhance the success of the party in future elections.
A total of 10,000 mega food-packs were distributed at the event covering the 10 local governments in Lagos West Senatorial District.
Some of the food items in the pack distributed include Rice, Beans, Semovita, Vegetable oil Pasta and Tomato paste.
There were also clothing materials attached to the packs.
List of beneficiaries include: APC members, market men and women, artisans, physically-challenged, Christian Association of Nigeria, League of Imams and Alfas, Non-indigenes among others.
