The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the immediate past Governor of Imo State and current Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha from the party, reports The Gazelle News.com.
According to the letter of suspension dated Monday, 12 July, 2021, signed by the Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party, Mai Bala Bunu; and Secretary, Senator John James Akpanodoedehe, he was suspended for anti party activities.
The letter also confirmed that the National Working Committee (NWC) ratified the suspension slammed on the former Governor by the Imo State chapter of the party.
According to the letter, the Imo State Disciplinary Committee set up to investigate the alleged activities of the Senator recommended his suspension after founding him guilty of the allegations levelled against him.
Okorocha was accused of: (1) Continouos meeting with opposition party in the state and elsewhere (2) working in opposition with the Governor of the state, and (3) flagrant abuse on the person and Office of the President.
