The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving water transportation in the state.
He made the statement during a scheduled visit to Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) operational base at Mile 2 Terminal.
While promising to support LAGFERRY in achieving its mandate of ferrying 30% of Lagosians via the waterways, Osiyemi commended the management of the agency and expressed delight at the E-fleet Surveillance System, describing it as a game-changer that would boost passenger’s confidence by ensuring their safety as the boats are monitored in real time.
“I want to commend you for this initiative. This would give passengers more confidence and assurance of safety knowing they are being monitored in real time” he stated.
He urged the agency to create more awareness and ensure enough publicity of its operations especially as the yuletide season is here by highlighting on the activities and social events that can take place on it’s barge – MV Adimu Orisa.
The Managing Director, LAGFERRY, Hon. Abdoulbaq Ladi Balogun while reeling out the numerous achievements and activities of the agency, assured the Commissioner of strong support to ensure he succeeds and achieve his vision for the transportation sector in the state.
Balogun appreciated Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his commitment to achieving the multi-modal transport system and his unprecedented investments in water transportation.
