Suspected Fulani militants attacked and killed about seven persons in Warkan village, Atyap land in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, an Ogun State based national newspaper reports.
The newspaper gathered that several houses were also razed down by the attackers with the number of those injured yet to be ascertained.
A source told the newspaper correspondent that the attackers stormed the village in their numbers, saying that a search is ongoing to ascertain the casualties in the area.
He stated that the most worrisome is the inability of those in authority to take proactive measures to avert the ugly incident that has been going on for years, particularly in Atyap land.
“One hardly understands the rationale behind these organised attacks and killings that have become the order of the day in Atyap land. Most worrisome is the inability of those in authority both at the federal and state levels to take proactive steps to bring an end to the attacks,” the source explained.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing in this report, state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, and the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, are yet to confirm the development.
