It was testimony galore from beneficiaries of the various empowerment programmes initiated and executed by the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke.
The popular Blue Roof event center at the Lagos Television in Agidingbi, Ikeja was packed full of residents as Honourable Faleke held a Town Hall Meeting meant to sensitise the people on his programme of actions and getting their feedback on previous programmes and projects he had executed.
“The programme is meant to feel the purse of the people. Honourable Faleke wants to know the people’s feeling of what he has done in the past and what they expect him to in the nearest future,” Wale Ajala, an aide of Ikeja Federal Lawmaker told this medium earlier before the commencement of the programme.
First to come out was Adekoya Dorcas, a female, who came out and knelt before the rep member in appreciation for what he had done for her.
“But for Honourable Faleke, I will still be walking the streets. I enrolled for one of his empowerment programmes and got trained in fish rearing. I attended the training programme and at the end of the programme, I was given N50,000 like others.
“We were also given some equipment. I invested the N50,000 in the business and today my business has prospered and I have made a profit of N240,000 and the business has continued to grow,” Dorcas narrated.
In addition, Dorcas came with some big cat fishes in appreciation. “I came here to give testimony on what he has done for me and I want to show appreciation to him by presenting my products to him,” she said.
An elated Faleke gave Dorcas additional N240,000 to add to her business capital. “She has really impressed me, and I want others to learn from her. She has made us proud.
“It’s disheartening to know that some people we empower with items such mini-buses and tricycles sold them,” the lawmaker said.
Octogenarian Alhaja Wosilat Animashaun was another who gave testimony. “Through him, I got my eyesight restored,” she said.
Alhaja Animashaun stated that she had almost lost full sense seeing when she attended the one of the medical outreaches put in place by the lawmaker.
“I attended and was tested and it was decided I would have to go through surgery to correct my eyesight. I went through the surgery which was free of charge and here I am with my eyesight fully restored. Thank you Honourable Faleke,” she said.
Security agents were not left out in giving testimony at the event.
“Left to me, I would have want the Ojudu police station to be named James Abiodun Faleke Police Station. This should be in recognition of his immense contributions to the uplifting the police station.
“He has given us patrol vehicles, rehabilitate the station and even give essential gadgets that we need for effective and efficient service delivery.
“I want to confidently state here that the seamless efforts we’ve put in place in securing areas and communities under our jurisdiction were due to the support of Honourable James Abiodun Faleke,” the DPO of Ojodu Police Station stated at the event.
His testimony was corroborated by his colleagues at Alausa Police and station and Mosafejo police station while the DPO of Pen Cinema Police station while commending the lawmaker sought his assistance in uplifting the station.
While responding, Honourable Faleke expressed happiness that the people appreciated what he described as “our little efforts at empowering our people”.
According to him, he would not relent and will continue to put in more effort at empowering his people.
Listing some of his achievements, Honourable Faleke stated that over 17,000 residents have been empowered in his Constituency while over 500 mini-buses have been distributed in addition to hundreds of tricycles.
Faleke, who’s the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, urged Nigerians to continue to support the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his quest to bring back glory to Nigeria.
“We must continue to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has the capacity to take Nigeria back to the glory. He has a lot to contend with but he has shown the will and the desire to make Nigeria, but we must give him time and continue to support him,” he said.
