Residents of Lagos Street closed to the scene of the building that collapsed on Friday, 22 December, 2023, have recounted how a dog being taken care of by the occupants warned them few minutes before the tragic incident, reports thegazellenews.com
According to the Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, the dog came few minutes before the building collapsed.
“According to accounts of residents, before the collapse, a dog, which the people in the collapsed building had been taking care of, got to the building and started barking in a sorrowful manner and refused to eat or enter the building.
“No sooner had the dog left, than the building came down,” Farinloye said.
Farinloye confirmed that three people: one adult male, one adult female and a teenager; died in the building collapse which occured on Lagos Street by Herbert Macauley Way, Ebute Meta.
