The Katsina State Police Command on Friday, 25 August, 2023 gave out cheques to families/next-of-kin of 22 police officers who died in active service.
A total of N7.7 million in cheques was presented to the families in a solemn ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Katsina,
The cheques contained different amounts of money to families of deceased police officers .
The state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, led the event and conveyed the significance of this gesture.
The monetary offering was provided through the Group Life Insurance and Family Welfare Scheme, an initiative that was put forth by the acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to support the families of deceased police officers.
This scheme aims to provide crucial support to the families left behind by brave officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of their community.
The Police Commissioner did the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman.
The state police boss, while presenting the cheques, appreciated the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police for improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.
Musa emphasized the purpose behind this initiative, saying, “The welfare Scheme is meant to assist the families of departed Police Officers.”
The state police boss appealed to the recipients of the financial support to judicious use of the funds to ensure the well-being of their families.
Musa reassured them that their entitled benefits would be distributed in a timely manner, underscoring the police force’s commitment to stand by them during their time of need.
Maryam Sabo, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the IGP for the welfare package, assuring that the money would be judiciously used.
