A Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Yenagoa Bayelsa State capital presided over by Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi has sentenced one Daniel Amaso to life imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old pre-degree student of the state-owned Niger Delta University in Amassoma.
The convict was arraigned for forcefully entering the 17-year-old apartment in Amassoma community, Southern Ijaw LGA, with a knife. He was said to have raped her under duress and robbed her of her phone afterwards.
Amaso was charged with rape, armed robbery and causing grievous harm before justice Kombo-Enegesi.
He was consequently found guilty on the three counts on Monday and sentenced to life imprisonment for the offences of rape and armed robbery and 7 years for the offence of inflicting grievous harm.
