As the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ojo Federal Constituency Campaign Council continues with its engagement and interaction with stakeholders, the state Chairman of the party, Hon. C. O Ojelabi, led the team on Sunday, 5 February, 2023, when the campaign train moves to Wards J and I.
The Campaign Council was hosted by the people of Ese Ofin and Etegbin communities, with the state APC Chairman, an indigene of Ese Ofin leading the interaction with the residents of the two communities.
Earlier, the Director General of the Campaign Council, Mr Rosulu Olusola Idowu, had charged the people of Ward J to demonstrate appreciation, through massive votes for the Party, for considering their own as the state Chairman of the Party.
“On the day of election, we must get to the polling unit as early as possible; participate in accreditation programme and vote,” he advised.
The state APC Chairman reeled out achievements of the APC-led administration in Ojo Federal Constituency. He spoke of the large scale infrastructure development ongoing in the Iyana-Iba and Okokomaiko axis; the construction of Ojo General Hospital and countless job opportunities for residents and locals. “This is the making of the APC led administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu, and deserving reasons our people must vote for our party,” he said.
He also spoke on the areas of credibility of all candidates.
Ojelabi described the Presidential Candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Chief Promoter of popular participation in governance as Governor of Lagos State.
“He created agencies that have provided thousands of job opportunities for residents and locals in Lagos State. I am confident he can do much better as President.
“Mr Babajide Olusola SanwoOlu is deserving reelection for his methodical commitment to the development of Lagos State. Dr Idiat Adebule has a chequered track record of brilliance, therefore should be voted as Senator,” the APC State Chairman said.
Ojelabi was emphatic in calling on the people to vote massively for Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi as member of the House of Representatives to represent the people of Ojo Federal Constituency. He charged the people to shun the ugly scheming of the incumbent member who could not advance meaningful representation for the Constituency in nearly eight years.
While charging the people to vote for the State Assembly candidates for Ojo Constituency I & II, he submitted by expressing the importance of the 25 February and 11 March, 2023 elections. “The 25 February and 11 March, 2023, is as important as the second. We must approach the two elections with all seriousness,” he submitted.
The Lagos APC Chairman also took the centre stage in the second event held in Etegbin of Ward I. While he expressed confidence in the people’s vote for APC, he stated that reward mechanism in the Party has changed.
“We must be mindful of what we are bringing to the table. Our votes must be huge and massive. While we have to win, we must do it well. This is more so when the quality of our votes will determine the quality of what we get thereafter. When it is time to authoritatively allocate resources and rewards, the Zones, Wards and Constituencies with the highest votes will be considered first. We cannot afford to limit the chances of attracting development in Ojo with unimpressive votes,” he submitted.
Having pledged to make Etegbin and its environs enjoy a new lease of developmental experience, he promised to facilitate the construction of the Etegbin linkage road, while he challenged the people to vote massively to aid the construction of the Elemijaye road.
The people of Etegbin are not ingrates. They demonstrated gratitude for the key role the State Chairman played in the crises that engulfed the community in 2022. Chief Onifafe Festus who spoke on the people’s mandate appreciated Hon. Ojelabi, and gave words of assurance to vote for all APC candidates in the 25 February and 11 March, 2023, elections.
The highest point of the Etegbin event, was the pledge by the State Chairman to support those whose boats were destroyed in the 2022 crises with the sum of N2.5 million; and the promise to facilitate the empowerment of small business owners through the Lagos State Government.
The events were attended by party leaders, Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi, House of Representatives candidate; Hon. Surajudeen Olatunji Tijani, State Assembly Ojo Constituency II candidate; Comrade Olusegun Adebisi Ege, State Assembly Ojo Constituency I candidate; members of the Campaign Council, and party members in Wards J and I.
