The Abia State House of Assembly has impeached its speaker, Rt.Hon. Chinedum Orji.
The motion for the impeachment was moved by Hon Chukwudi Apugo member representing Umuahia East, and was seconded by Hon. Okey Igwe (PDP, Umunneochi).
The impeached Speaker represents Umuahia Central State Constituency.
Although a detail of the impeachment remains sketchy, the Deputy Speaker confirmed the impeachment to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital.
Orji lost February 25 National Assembly poll for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
Few weeks ago, members of the state Assembly disassociated themselves from any plot to impeach Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
As the time of this report, Police had taken over the complex and restricted both human and vehicular movements.
