Nigeria soccer fans are disappointed with majority of the Super Eagles players especially those who are yet to resume camping ahead of the fast approaching African Nations Cup holding in Cameroon this month.
Expressing their displeasure on the attitude of the Nigeria players, Kunle Alade, an ardent soccer fan, stated that Nigerian players lack commitment and discipline, saying that majority of the United Kingdom based players are yet to report to camp with less than six days to the commencement of the AFCON kicking on Sunday, 9 January, 2022.
Comparing the other African players playing in the Premiership, Sadio Mane of Liverpool FC and Edouard Mendy of Chelsea played in Premier league match on Sunday, 2 January, 2022 and by Monday, 3 January, 2022 both players are already in the camp of their country, Senegal, but Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho are yet to report in camp in spite of the fact that they did not played at the weekend since Leicester City’s match with Norwich City was postponed.
Another Super Eagles fan, Debo Adekunle also expressed disappointment on the attitude of Nigerian players, adding that Ahmed Musa, who is the official captain of the team arrive Nigeria early but instead of reporting to camp went to Kaduna to watch Kano Pillars against Enyimba FC, describing this as highest form of insensitivity.
Meanwhile as at the time of this report, on Monday, 3 January, 2022, only 14 players are in camp with the majority of the UK based players expected in camp later this evening or early tomorrow morning.
The team is presently camped in Abuja and are expected to jet out of the country later this week.
Super Eagles are in group D with Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau with the Super Eagles playing their first match on Tuesday, 11 January, 2022 against Egypt.
