As the Governor Sanwo-Olu-led administration marks its first year anniversary in its second tenure, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Lagosians of more goodies from the government.
Chairman of the party in the state, Cornelius Ojelabi, who gave the assurance on Tuesday, 28 May, 2024, said the government was poised for more tailor-made programs that would make the citizens to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Pastor Ojelabi whose message marked another year of active and commendable performance on May 29 , said the government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu was focused on fulfilling its electioneering promises which were made to get the people to reap bountifully from democracy.
He noted that the APC-led government in the state was doing everything to make life better for the people
The Chairman commended the resilience and doggedness of the Lagos people who fought very well to secure another four year mandate for the Governor as compensation for his brilliant performance in his first term.
He explained that the ruling APC government in the state has, in the last one year, constructed and rehabilitated many public schools across the 20 local governments(LGs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas(LCDAs) in the state, trained many teachers under the Eko Excel Scheme, provided hostels for the state model colleges in addition to the renovation of libraries in Epe, Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin and Ikorodu to aid reading and learning cultures among students.
He added that the government has also renovated public health infrastructure in the state, including the ongoing reconstruction of the Massey Street Children Hospital as well as the regular payment of healthcare personnel allowances to ensure that Lagosians have uninterrupted access to healthcare.
Governor Sanwo-Olu as the number one ambassador of the APC in the state, has equally added N35,000.00 to the salaries of every public servant for six months to cushion the hardship the fuel subsidy removal had inflicted on their purchasing power
“Our state also cleared in totality the backlog of pension arrears. As it stand today, Lagos state is the only state that has cleared this and promised that the pension allowances shall continue to be paid as at when due.”
Ojelabi recalled that the APC-led government under Governor Sanwo-Olu also developed grassroots sports in the state as the state hosted the Africa’s Scrabble championship.
The state’s belief that cleanliness is next to Godliness motivated the APC government in Lagos State to embark on the sanitation of its markets, introduction of Sunday-Sunday markets where those without opportunities for shopping during the weekdays because of their work schedule have the opportunities to do so with ease.
The state also embarked on distribution of palliatives to many residents of the state to combat hunger and its attendant ills, he recalled while urging Lagosians to continue to support the APC government in Lagos state in his human-face policies so that it will continue to provide democratic deliverables to them in the years ahead.
Ojelabi urged the residents of the state to always be law abiding while going about their legitimate duties, continue to tolerate each other and never fail to report those suspected of unwholesome attitudes to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for apprehension and prosecution.
According to the state chairman of the party, all these impressive score cards, were achieved because the governor and his state executive council, in conjunction with the legislative and the judiciary arms were able to achieve them because of the rancour–free, cordial relationship they formed and have been enjoying.
He promised that the APC in the state will provide the citizens with many more in years ahead.
