The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has advised management and staff of the Ministry and its services to take adequate precaution against the spate of coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world.
Ogbeni Aregbesola gave the advice in a circular titled “PRECAUTION AGAINST COVID-19 INFECTION,” which he personally signed and issued in his office in Abuja on Wednesday, 25 March, 2020.
He noted that fever, nasal congestion, sore throat, diarrhoea, dry cough, aches and pains were among the symptoms to watch out for, by the staff and officers in form of caution as handed down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other stakeholders, on the containment of the scourge.
In addition to the measures taken by the Federal Government to contain the spread of the virus, the Minister said, “it is important that I advise you all to ensure you strictly adhere to the preventive measures regarding personal hygiene both in the work premises and at home, maintain Social Distance in public places, avoid crowded locations, keep members of your family at home, wash your hands, observe the no handshake rule and make use of sanitizers.”
He described the coronavirus disease as very dangerous and called for vigilance, saying, some persons, though infected, do not present any of the symptoms for a number of days.
Aregbesola therefore urged all agency heads in the ministry to build the internal resilience of their officers, men and operational readiness to strengthen their capacity so as to offer support at frontlines of the Federal Government COVID-19 response efforts as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
