If the DNA of humans contain the genetic code that determines the uniqueness of humanity, then, leadership must of necessity have a DNA, the fundamental tenets that characterize the domain of civilization. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is ‘the Asiwaju, the frontliner’ who bears his leadership with humanity.
The man who recently bagged a Honorary Doctorate from the Afe Babalola University(ABUAD) has often been praised by many individuals as the leader who helped them climb the ladder of leadership and governance. And this is not limited to the nationally recognized. Community leaders, traditional chiefs, business people and many others acknowledge his impact to their advancement in their respective career paths.
In the most difficult times such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, Asiwaju is one to lead from the front. Over a week ago, he declared that he is canceling the annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium and birthday celebration in order to complement the efforts of the government as we battle the common enemy. The press release reads: ‘ After careful consultation with all relevant stakeholders regarding the health and safety of all our guests, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 12th Bola Tinubu Colloquium, scheduled for March 29th 2020 in Lagos, till further notice. Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation.’
Again, four days ago, he demonstrated solidarity to the Lagos State Government by showing up in person with the Governor. ‘I congratulate the government of Lagos State for what has been done so far about regular information on the mysterious disease. Nigeria needs a lot of education in this challenging period. We must obey the government. It is not only by prayer, it’s by us observing what is necessary to stop the disease that is ravaging the world. My appeal is for people to respect the information coming from the government house. We endorse the position of the governor’, the transformational leader asserted.
While we maintain social distancing, proper hygiene practices, and abide by all laid down procedures that has been outlined by global and national health agencies, we can not but on this 29th March, 2020 – the 68th of the icon’s life – celebrate his life and achievements, his tireless contributions to the sociopolitical and economic development of the nation, and his doggedness and commitment to the realization of the true values and dignity of humanity.
It is only desirable that our leaders at the communal, traditional and national level will inculcate the DNA that Asiwaju embody in their respective personal lives and societal roles.
68 hearty cheers to the leader of leaders!
68 hearty cheers to the leader who always lead from the front!
68 hearty cheers to my Asiwaju!
