The Chairman of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Honourable Razaq Olusola Ajala, has advised leadership of the Council’s Community Development Council (CDC) and 30 Community Development Associations (CDAs) to complement the efforts of the his administration in particular and the state government at large in developing the grassroots.
Hon Ajala disclosed this on Thursday, 12 October, 2023, during the inauguration of the new leadership for the CDC and CDAs in the council area.
“You’re the eyes of the government at the grassroots level, you’re very close to the local residents.
“I want to urge to avail yourself with this opportunity to serve your various communities and assist the local and state governments to improve the socio-economic well-being of the citizens,” he said.
Ajala disclosed further that the CDC and CDAs constitute important part of governance since they’re the closest to the people on the streets.
“We also expect you to bridge the communication gap between the government and the people by patiently explaining government policies to the people and the need for them to cooperate and support government programmes,” he said.
According to him, his administration has been doing excellently to ensure that the people of the council area get dividends of democracy delivered to them at their doorsteps.
“Thus, we have put in place programmes that will enhance the entreprenural skills of the people. We’ve earmarked money from where people will draw interest free loans to develop their businesses while another money has been earmarked for distribution to some small and medium scale entrepreneurs,” he said.
Apart from this, he stated that his administration has also put in place free food distribution to the aged and other vulnerable residents while it is also putting in place agencies that will eventually engage youths and women in various jobs where they will be drawing salaries.
