It has been confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari will address the Nation on the 27th of April, 2020 by 8pm. This was disclosed on the verified Twitter handle of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu
According to Shehu in his tweet at exactly 2:52 pm today
“President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation Monday, April 27, 2020 at 8 p.m. Television, radio and other electronic media stations are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.”
On Sunday 29th March, 2020, The president had first addressed the nation as regards the pandemic and announced the cessation of movements in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT for 14 days. On April 12th, the president again addressed the nation on the COVID-19 Pandemic and declared an extension of the cessation of movements for another 14 days in the same states and the FCT.
State Governors have played an advisory role by calling for a partial lockdown, the Nigerian Governor’s Forum have also have called for a partial lifting of the lockdown, with the Nigerian Governors Forum proposing that intra-state movements should be restricted.
They have also suggested a compulsory use of face mask in public places as well continued ban on large gatherings.
