Nigeria teams, particularly the females, continue their impressive showing at the ongoing Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham, England with the country winning the Gold and Bronze medals in the F55-57 Shot Put event for women reports thegazellenews.com.
Both the country’s male and female 4×100m relay teams also qualified for the final of the event taking place tomorrow by winning respective semi final heats.
Nigeria’s Eucharia Njideka Iyazi won the Gold medal in the F55-57 Shot Put event throwing 10.03m and thereby setting a new Games record in the process. A Camerounian athlete won the Silver medal while another Nigerian, Ugochi Constance Allan won the Bronze medal.
Nigeria has now won 8 gold medals at the Games more events yet to be decided.
Both the Nigerian male and female 4×100m relay teams qualified for the final in impressive fashion on Saturday, 6 August, 2022.
They won their respective semi final heats.
