Crisis has broken out in The First African Church Mission over what some members have described as the dictatorial administration of the Primate of the Mission, Primate Sunday Matilukuro, thegazellenews.com has exclusively gathered.
This medium learnt exclusively that the crisis occured when Primate Matilukuro announced the merger of some Dioceses of the Mission which invariably would lead to the premature retirement of seven archbishops of the Mission.
Thegazellenews.com learnt that Primate Matilukuro announced the merger of the Dioceses during the last annual conference of the church which took place at Ijebu Oru in Ogun State between Wednesday, 9 August and Sunday, 13 August, 2023.
“The Primate announced the merger during the conference and members have not been at ease since then,” a member of the Church told thegazellenews.com.
This medium learnt that members are now divided over announcement and majority seemed not to support the Primate on the matter.
“The merger will lead to the premature retirement of seven archbishops. These archbishops still have seven years to serve in the Ministry because that’s the period they will retirement age of 70,” our source said.
Thegazellenews.com’s further investigation revealed that the affected archbishops are not taking things easy with Primate Matilukuro.
“The archbishops are spoiling for a fight with the Primate and they’ve told him pointedly that they can only go on the premature retirement if the Mission will pay them gratuity for the remaining seven years they’re supposed to spend but which was cut short,” our source said.
