The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has met with Wives of State Governors who also double as the State Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
At the meeting, which was primarily to inform and update them about the various support programmes of the RHI, the First Lady noted that the Initiative continues to pursue its core mission, “Towards a better life for families” with these programmes.
“Additionally, we are set to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Economic Empowerment Programme for Petty traders. Under this scheme, RHI will provide N50,000 grant each,to 1,000 Women Petty Traders in the 36States and the FCT. The programme is designed to recapitalize existing small businesses and support their growth. The official launch is scheduled for August 22, 2024. I urge States that are yet to submit list of beneficiaries to do so in earnest”.
“In Agriculture, we will be working with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADFUND) has also reached out to us to train female farmers in each State and FCT”.
She noted that these and other policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are all geared towards ensuring a more prosperous people and nation.
“In Education, RHI is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Education, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and the African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD). It is also worthy of note that the unveiling of 200 Awardees under the AUDA NEPAD/ RHI Scholarship Programme will take place tomorrow, 1st of August, 2024”.
