The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to do all to support and encourage Nigerians, families and vulnerable communities.
First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu stated this in Lafia, Nassarawa State at the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI Food Outreach Scheme for the state.
The First Lady who was represented at the event by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima appreciated the people for believing in the administration and the course of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
“The Food Outreach Scheme is specially designed to provide support to the underprivileged, in line with the resolve of the administration of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to leave no one behind in ensuring food security and sufficiency in the country.
“Under this scheme, a trailer load of assorted food items is being donated to state governments for onward distribution to identified groups; courtesy of a notable and public-spirited industry that has made a commitment to make the food items available on monthly basis,” she said.
According to the First Lady, the Food Outreach which is targeted at Internally Displaced Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Leper Colonies and other vulnerable groups will be taken round the country to ease access to food.
“So far, the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, and now Nasarawa states have benefitted from the scheme under the Social Investment Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). By the grace of God, our next stop will be in Benue State, while other states will also benefit in due course.
In addition to the Social Investment programme, the Renewed Hope Initiative also has other programmes focusing on Health, Agriculture, Education and Economic Empowerment to better the lives of families in the Nation . So far RHI has donated agricultural implements and provided financial support to women farmers, awarded several scholarships for students in tertiary institutions, ICT training for women, financial support to the elderly , amongst many other initiatives,” Senator Tinubu said.
She also announced the addition of 1,200 bags of rice to food packs which would be given to the groups. Not only this, the First Lady disclosed that the Renewed Hope Initiative will soon commence the disbursement of N50,000 grant to 1,000 female petty traders in each state and the FCT.
In his remarks the Nassarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by his deputy Dr Emmanuel Akabe noted that caring for women, youth and children have become the hallmark of the First Lady’s RHI thereby bringing succor to them all.
He appreciated the gesture saying that this is indeed a great relief.
“Deliver our message to the president, deliver our message to the First Lady. We are behind them, we appreciate them and we say well done,” he said.
In her remarks, Wife of the Nassarawa State Governor Hajia Silifat Abdullahi Sule noted that the Food Outreach is evidence that the vulnerable groups are not forgotten, they are cared for and they are important to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
