Armed men suspected to be cultists terrorizing parts of Rivers State on Friday, 8 September, 2023 in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State killed a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, identified as Bako Amgbanshin.
According to a viral video circulating on social media on the night of Friday, 8 September, 2023, the attackers were said to have ambushed the DPO and his men while on an operation to raid some criminal hideouts in the Ahoada East axis.
The DPO and his team engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and at the end, the attackers overpowered them and captured Amgbanshin; and matcheted him to death, cutting off his head, hand and private part.
After this, the gunmen chanted victory songs while the DPO’s body severed remains littered the floor.
It was gathered that the State Police Image-maker, Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the sad incident but refused to give details.
