A chairmanship aspirant for Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Honourable Olusegun Kayode Oyeniyi has advocated for a law to back the immortalization of all the June 12 activists across all the 36 states of the federation and 774 local government areas in the country.
Hon.Oyeniyi popularly called SegKay by his admirers stated this during the public unveiling of “Alimosho Faces of June 12 Democracy’ a project sponsored by SegKay Initiatives.
SegKay who is currently the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward C Secretary in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDAC congratulated the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all the other civil right activists that fought for the sustainability of the June 12 struggle in Lagos and Alimosho.
He said he is advocating for the Immortalization of June 12 Activists and all other Alimosho democratically minded and matured politicians for sustaining the country’s democracy.
Oyeniyi, a member of the civil society that championed the June 12 struggle in Alimosho, expressed satisfaction for the successful unveiling of the Roll of Honors as his own contribution to the sustainability of 25 years of unbroken democracy.
He stated that celebration of democracy can not be completed if efforts of the current leadership of APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others who have remained committed to the June 12 ideology are not fully acknowledged.
“It is my wish and I will do all within my power and under the ambit of my democratic rights to lobby our lawmakers towards sponsoring a bill that will help to immortalize all Alimosho democratically-minded leaders.
“I have already embarked on the advocacy and lobbying for the establishment of a Hall of Fame or creation of a section in our various museums dedicated to June 12 Activists.
“It is also note worthy for me to establish the fact that all Alimosho Progressives must join others to celebrate our frontline democrats,” he said.
SegKay noted the remarkable contributions of some democratically-minded politicians who had tirelessly solidified the foundations of the country’s founding national leaders.
Political leaders listed in the Roll of Honours included: the Lagos State Governor, Olusola Sanwo-Olu; and his Deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Others are: Princess Hon. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and Hon. Lukman Orelope for their roles in renewing the hope of Alimosho masses.
