“So far, in Oshodi, we have had 11 Baales but out of these Baales, only two were recognised by the state government. They are from the Ajenifuja and Kupoluyi families. Making the Kupoluyi family a prominent Ruling House Oshodi according to a Supreme Court ruling,” he explained.
Al Maroof added that the Supreme Court ruled in favour Areota Ologun families” by proclaiming us as the real owners of Oshodi land and can be crown as the only King of Oshodi kingdom”.
He said that Akinsanya family is from Oshodi and they belong to Kupoluyi ruling houses in Oshodi.
“The first prominent kingmaker in Oshodi who happens to be my grandfather, Pa Salaudeen Almoroof Ewa, is also from Kupoluyi Ruling House which also makes our family entitle to the ruling stool and a legitimate ruling house entitled to Oshodi Kingship,” the Kupoluyi Ruling House Scribe said.
He noted that the Chairman of NURTW, MC OluOmo is a bonafide member of Kupoluyi family, saying that the family of Pa salaudeen Almorouf also known as Areota Ologun comprises of 13 branches, that is, 13 children form the family tree, and one of the children is Alhaja Sadia Almaroof who gave birth to MC OluOmo’s father.
Thus, the Kupoluyi Family nominated MC. OluOmo has its candidate to occupy Oshodi royal stool.
Going back memory lane, Almoroof reeled out names of those who have occupied the Baale throne in Oshodi since the inception of the kingdom after the war.
“In 1850-1866, we had Baale Faremi Ajagungbade who spent 18 years on the throne, Baale Ogundeyi mounted the throne between 1866-1896 spending 34 years on the throne, then we had Baale Kupoluyi who reigned between1896- 1900.
