The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi, has congratulated Honourable Fuad Kayode Laguda, newly-elected lawmaker on the ticket of the party at the bye-election conducted on Saturday, 3 February, 2024.
Laguda will be representing Surulere Federal Constituency I at the House Of Representatives in Abuja after he must have been inaugurated by the leadership of the National Assembly
Ojelabi while congratulating the new parliamentarian in a statement he issued on Sunday, 4 February, 2024, said that Laguda’s victory was a testament to the support and trust the people of his Constituency have in the party.
He pleaded with Laguda to put the love of the people in his heart and translate their trust in him into positive action while serving them at the Green Chamber.
Ojelabi also urged the lawmaker-elect to take a cue from Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, whom he would be replacing at the lower chamber of the National Assembly by emulating and building on Gbajabiamila’s impactful and unrivalled dividends of democracy for his constituents.
Gbajabiamila is the current Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ojelabi described Gbajabiamila as a true representative of the people who showed exemplary leadership while occupying various positions that included the Speaker of House of Assembly in the last dispensation.
He noted that the challenges ahead of the newly-elect as a lawmaker are undoubtedly enormous but stressed that the determination and resilience that brought him to success at the polls, would help him to navigate them all.
“I want to congratulate you and all the people of Surulere Federal Constituency I on this resounding victory. This victory should swing you to work immediately. Please make as priority, the overall interest of the people that elected you beyond personal interests.
“I also use this avenue to thank all the party hierarchy for their support and prayers all through the journey. Our party will always remember all your sacrifices by ensuring that it continues to make life comfortable by providing the dividends of democracy which is the peak of good governance to its members.
“Your victory carries the hopes of many who believe that the legacy you met, shall be sustained by you and l urge you to do everything within your power, to make positive impacts on the lives of the people of your constituency at large.
“As a member of the House Of Representatives, do ensure that you are a true representative of your constituents by enacting and supporting bills that will have positive impact on them,” Ojelabi advised the newly-elected parliamentarian.
