The death of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has been described as a huge loss not only to Ondo State where he was the elected Governor until his demise but also to the Nigerian nation.

Reacting to the death of the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Wednesday, 27 December, 2023, the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest political decision making body in Lagos State said the late Ondo State Governor until his death was a dependable ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“His death is a huge loss not only to Ondo State but Nigeria as a whole. He was a committed party man, a dependable ally and a loyal Progressive,” the GAC said in a statement signed on its behalf by its Secretary, Alhaji Mutiu Are.
The GAC lamented that it is sad that the Ondo State Governor died at a time his “wisdom, knowledge, experience and sagacity” are needed to assist in nation building.
“But we can’t really blame God. It’s Him that determines the life span of all His creations. It’s His will that Arakunrin Akeredolu will at this point in time,” the GAC said.
The body stated further that, “we commiserate with our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the government and people of Ondo State, the Progressive family, our great party APC and the immediate family of the deceased particularly his beloved wife, Arabinrin Betty Akeredolu.
“We pray that God gives all of us the fortitude to bear this huge loss”.
