This is indeed good news for public primary school teachers in Enugu State as the state, Governor Peter Mbah on Monday, 8 July, 2024 approved the release of N1,912,187,753.82 to settle the long-standing leave allowances it owed them.
This was contained in a statement emanating from the Governor’s Media Office. According to the statement, the payment covers a period of four years and is a fulfilment of his promise to prioritise teachers’ welfare and productivity.
It added that the move was also aimed at supporting the state’s 260 smart green school policy which seeks to provide quality education.
Recall that this development comes after the Governor’s earlier approval of the N30,000 minimum wage for primary school teachers and local government workers, demonstrating his commitment to enhancing the well-being of educators in the state.
