The Nigerian Army has debunked the allegation that it was after Obianuju Catherine Udeh populally known as DJ Switch’s life. Ibrahim Taiwo, a brigadier, said this during his testimony to the Judicial Panel hearing SARS abuses and Lekki tollgate protest.
“We are not after DJ Switch, we have bigger fish to fry. Our concern is how to stabilise Lagos. I have met some of the actors of the Lekki protest on their own terms. I have met doctors who were at the tollgate and they said the injuries (suffered by protesters) were not consistent with gunshots,” said Taiwo.
The senior military officer said it would appear some Nigerians deliberately lead a campaign of calumny against the Nigerian Army as “atrocious, evil and wicked in its dimension.”
TheGazellenews had earlier reported DJ Switch informing the Canadian Parliament that the army was after her life.
Aside, DJ Switch’s claim, Taiwo also led the panel through series of tweets and claims he fact-checked to be untrue about the #EndSARS protest.
The senior military officer said he believed some people were deliberately leading a campaign of calumny against the Nigerian Army.
“We have those who constantly try to drive a wedge against us and the citizens of Nigeria, describing the act as “atrocious, evil and wicked in its dimension.
“There is no way officers and men will kill their brothers,” he stated.
