In consideration of the commercial city’s high population and number of applicants applying to get passports, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced its readiness to open additional passport offices in Lagos State.
Acting Comptroller General, Caroline Adepoju made this disclosure Sunday, 11 June ,2023 during a parade at the Ikoyi Passport Office in Lagos.
Adepoju, who warned officers against passport racketeering and other unprofessional conducts, vowed to sanction erring personnel, just as she also directed them to adhere strictly to passport processing procedures and issues related to border security.
Adepoju said passport offices across the country must ensure that all applicants “are served promptly and with dignity”.
“There should be no delay in any passport offices and no applicants or Nigerians must be put under any hideous task or maltreatment,” Adepoju ordered.
Adepoju added that her focus was on personnel welfare and passport issues because the two areas “have witnessed lots of complaints.”
