Olujonwo , son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo,is ready to broker peace with his estranged wife, Temitope Adebutu, seeking forgiveness and a chance to rebuild their broken relationship.
Temitope, daughter of billionaire and Premier Lotto founder, Chief Kessington Adebutu, married Olujonwo in a high-profile ceremony in May 2017.
However, their union hit the rocks just months later, leading to separation and subsequent divorce proceedings.
In a heartfelt public statement, Olujonwo expressed regret over the pain and challenges their marriage endured, taking responsibility for his actions and seeking to reconcile with his estranged wife.
He acknowledged the mistakes he made, apologized for the hurt caused, and emphasized his willingness to work on restoring their relationship.
Reflecting on their once-beautiful union, Olujonwo reminisced about the joy, love, and dreams they shared, describing those memories as too precious to lose. He admitted that their marriage had its ups and downs but said he believes in giving their love another chance.
His statement read in part, “For some time now, our relationship has been marred by seemingly irreconcilable differences and painful moments that led us down the path of separation and even divorce.
“Yet, despite the hurt and the distance, recent events have led me to reassess the foundation of our marriage with a fresh perspective.”
He revealed that introspection and the intervention of trusted individuals had helped him realize the value of their relationship and inspired him to seek reconciliation.
The statement added, “There have been moments of quiet reflection, as well as the intervention of caring and trusted individuals, who have encouraged us to consider what brought us together in the first place: the love, the dreams, and the bond that we once shared.
“I recognize the role I played in the challenges we faced and fully accept my responsibility to rebuild the trust and love that we once had. This is not a journey I take lightly, but one that I am ready to face with sincerity, humility, and unwavering dedication.”
He extended a heartfelt apology to Temitope, imploring her to let go of the anger and resentment from the past. He expressed hope for a renewed relationship founded on faith, love, and understanding.
He said, “It is with this deep understanding and love that I now ask my wife for forgiveness for the hurt I have caused and for the pain I have inflicted knowingly and unknowingly.
“My hope is that Temitope is ready to release the anger, the resentment, and the wounds of the past. I believe in the power of faith, love, and determination to overcome obstacles, and I am ready to begin this uneasy yet necessary journey of healing and rebuilding.”
Six years ago, Olujonwo ‘s court documents surfaced online revealing the troubles in their one-year old marriage.
The documents revealed that shortly after the wedding ceremony, Olujunwo has allegedly suffered from physical assaults by his wife as well as threats to his life.
Earlier before the consummation of the marriage,Olujonwo’s mother Taiwo Obasanjo had repeatedly spoken out against the wedding with efforts made to postpone the wedding ceremony.
She had described the marriage as “devilish” and also made allegations of attempted assassination.
The attempts at a postponement, however, came to an abrupt end in April 2018, one month before the wedding ceremony was held.
Eventually,court granted the couple divorce.
