Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Sulaiman Lasun Yusuf, has described ex-Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the only loyalist of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who can sacrifice anything to please the former Lagos Governor, reports The Gazelle News.com.
Lasun disclosed this during an interview with an Osogbo based radio station, Rave FM on Friday, 3 December, 2021.
“He (Aregbesola) is the only Tinubu loyalist I know. He can do anything to satisfy his boss. His loyalty and commitment to him is second to none,” he said.
According to Lasun, if not for Rauf’s loyalty and commitment to Tinubu, he would still have been friend with the former Governor of Osun State and current Minister of Interior.
Narrating his experience with Aregbesola, the former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker stated that he has been friend with Rauf for a long period of time.
“That friendship ended in 2015 and I’ll tell you the reason it ended and this will be the first time I’ll reveal this,” he said.
According to him, in 2015, he went to Aregbesola who was Governor of Osun State then and intimated him of his intention to run for the Deputy Speakership of the House of Representatives.
“He (Aregbesola) said he will support me. Three days later, he called me and said that my ambition will have to be jettisoned because Asiwaju wanted Gbajabiamila to. Be the Speaker and that they have decided to support Gbajabiamila.
“I told him that I don’t know Asiwaju and. That it is he (Rauf), that I know. I told him I don’t know anything about Gbajabiamila’s ambition and that I’m going ahead with mine.
“He told me that we will have to part ways as a result of that because for him, Asiwaju’s interests is always paramount. He said he won’t compromise on his loyalty to Asiwaju even at the expense of our years of friendship,” the former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker narrated.
